What are the challenges?

Overview

Doing business in Poland is very similar to doing business in the UK. If your product or service is successful in the UK, there is a good chance you will be successful in Poland.

However, there are challenges. These include:

  • bureaucracy

  • competitive market

  • lack of clarity and transparency in tax administration

  • tax burden

  • corruption

  • slow judicial system

  • poor infrastructure, though improving

You should ensure you take the necessary steps to comply with the requirements of the UK Bribery Act. See: www.gov.uk/government/publications/bribery-act-2010-guidance

See the Business Risk section in this guide, and check the latest Overseas Business Risk report for Poland at: www.gov.uk/government/publications/overseas-business-risk-poland.

The DIT team in Warsaw and the British Polish Chamber of Commerce (BPCC) can help provide further advice and information.
